A Study On Swedish Adult Vocational Education

Due to the thought of lifelong education, adult vocational education, as the main body of vocational education and training, receives increasingly attention from every country in the world. Adult vocational education refers to vocational technical education and continuous education at any level oriented for adults, aims at improving or updating educatees' vocational knowledge and skills and provides development for their personalities. According to the Annual Report on Global Competitive Ability in 2006, Sweden is ranked eighth in every country and region of the world, but China is ranked nineteenth. Sweden has developed into an industrial power country because of its multiple and complete adult vocational education. Some important inspiration for developing our country's adult vocational education can be achieved from Swedish experience.This essay comprehensively studies Swedish adult vocational education with the methods of document and comparative research. It is divided into five parts:the first part states Swedish educational administration management system, school system, the origin of thought of adult education and development of adult vocational education; the second part introduces management-forecast system and forms of Swedish adult vocational education; the third part analyses the new reforms of Swedish adult vocational education: Advanced Vocational Education, Adult Education Initiative and Individual Learning Accounts; the fourth part sums up the reasons for success of Swedish adult vocational education; the last part combines current development of adult vocational education in our country and points out some inspirations of Swedish adult vocational education for us.
