With the development of educational internationalization and informationization, Bilingual education has become a necessity and tactic need to deepen education reform and accelerate a new round of economic increase. Taking English and Physical Education as carriers, bilingual education can expand space and time of foreign language practice, broaden learning environment of foreign language and optimize learning mode. Meanwhile, bilingual education can also cultivate students'ability of thinking and communication in English. Bilingual education is not a kind of education merely based on English context, but a kind that integrates all sorts of disciplines by fusing language study and discipline content and facilitating the creation and development of students'language ability.This thesis aims at popularizing bilingual education in basketball class at middle schools in Shenzhen city. The author mainly employs literature review, no-structure interview investigation, questionnaire investigation,expert interview and mathematical statistics analysis to investigate and research the status in quo and influence factors of bilingual education in basketball class at middle schools in Shenzhen city. The results show that:First, by spot check in bilingual education in P.E. class at 12 middle schools, the result shows that a few middle schools have established bilingual education in P.E. class but the ratio is only 8.3%. At present, bilingual education in P.E.class has not popularized well enough.Second, teachers can inspire students'interests in basketball learning by bilingual education so as to enhance students'special English level of P.E. and their learning effect of basketball skill.Third, the main influence factors of developing bilingual education in basketball class include lack of bilingual education textbook, lack of systematic and complete education mode, pinch of qualified teachers, differences in cognition of bilingual education between teachers and students and lack of favorable bilingual education circumstances.Fourth, P.E.curriculum reform provides a good platform for bilingual teaching in basketball class at middle schools in Shenzhen city.Fifth, the investigation results show that 34.7 percent students hold extremely interested attitude and 55.1 percent students hold interested attitude.Sixth, by questionnaires leaders of sports administrative departments, headmasters of middle schools and teachers of P.E. all hold affirmative and favorable attitudes towards developing bilingual education in basketball class.Seventh, it is feasible to develop bilingual education in basketball class at middle schools in Shenzhen city.According to the results of questionnaires and application status in quo of bilingual education in basketball class at middle schools, the author puts forward following suggestions:First, leaders of sports administrative departments ,headmasters of middle schools and teachers of P.E. should pay much attention to the research and popularization of bilingual education in basketball class. Second, construction of bilingual education staff and professional training should be strengthen. Third, introducing overseas original textbooks and organizing P. E. teachers who have high level of English and professional English teachers to join in the development and compiling our own bilingual textbooks. Fourth, educational administrative departments and middle schools should conduct regular bilingual education activities and develop favorable English circumstances. Fifth, middle schools should establish wholesome system of bilingual education in P.E., set up sports bilingual education database, summarize and popularize the successful experience of sports bilingual education and share high quality resources.
