Patterns Construction Of Contemporary Urban Community Culture Development In China

Culture is the power of social development, and it is the spiritual pillar for building up a harmonious socialist society. Hu Jintao also has stressed the need to enhance Chinese culture as the nation's "soft power" in his keynote speech in the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. "Culture has become more and more an important source of national cohesion and creativity as well as a factor with growing significance in the increasing competition with our overall national strength. We should hold on to the right direction of advanced culture in socialism and inspire the potential creativity of the whole nation, and improve the 'soft power'of our nation." Hu said.This thesis tries to consider the issue of Community Culture. Referencing the strategies of China since 1949 in dealing with the development of the community culture in the urban area, we would take a look at the study and analysis of the Cultural development of the X Community in Shenyang. By doing so, we hope to achieve a clearer picture and better understanding of the community cultural development in the cities in China, and be able to look for the most suitable pattern to establish the urban community culture in the Chinese cities. With this finding, we could build up patterns to promote a harmonious socialist community culture.fiirst, it gives a brief introduction about the background and the significance of this study and summarizes the research situation of the community culture at home and abroad, the research methodology and defined some relative concepts.Sencond,it talks about the evolution of urban community culture in our cities. Through introducing the situations and features of development of urban community culture in different periods, this chapter points out that the urban community culture in our Nation has experienced four stages, initial formation - destruction - remoulding - developing. Discussions in this chapter concentrate on the necessity of urban community culture construction in the present stage. The chapter also stresses that, as a matter of fact, community culture construction is most essential for the modernization of socialism. Third,talks about researches on the patterns culture's development within the urban communities in our Nation,by the detailed field study of residents in X Community in Shenyang by the author and his visit to the committee in the neighborhood. Through analyzing these studies, the author is able to find out the overall problems and difficulties most communities are facing in the development of urban community culture. The last deals with the construction of the patterns of urban community cultural development. The author comes up with a conclusive summary. Through the practical experiences gained in the actual field study mentioned in the first, and the summarization on theories, the author points out ways to construct the patterns of urban community cultural development.
