Reading can help people know more about the world. In the process of English learning, reading is an effective way to help people gain English knowledge and improve English proficiency. which is an unceasingly functional knowledge structure ,is a term in Cognitive psychology .when we meet new things ,we tend to connect them with our existing schemata.Reading comprehension is a most complicated physical and psychological process; one's knowledge schemata can direct his attention and help to code what he is reading. This article illustrates the role of content schemata and style schemata in the course of English reading comprehension, emphasizes that teachers should help students form proper schemata and enhance the ability of reading by enlarging their knowledge.In middle school English teaching ,it is one of the main teaching goals to improve students' reading ability .However, many of teachers just follow the traditional methods, without paying much attention to finding some better and more suitable teaching models for students. As a teacher engaging in English teaching, the author feels that it is of necessity to introduce the scheme theory into middle school English teaching ,and hopes that this of exploration will be helpful to actually improve students' English reading ability.
