Writing, an important language skill in English, has always been a difficulty in teaching and learning process for both teachers and students. The evaluation and correction of composition is a critical issue in teaching English writing to some extent.The fact that teachers revised the composition exclusively has significantly weakened students'consciousness actively in the process of evaluation and correction. So, it is necessary to explore and improve the method and mode of composition evaluation and correction.Guided by several theories in teaching and learning, the essay presents a series of study on composition evaluation and correction mode. The new mode, designed according to the characteristics of the students majoring in art in my school, changes the current method and lets the students join in the process earnestly, which will help them improve their composition writing.Interactive method between the students and the teacher is employed in the new mode in order to make the students become discoverers of various problems through the whole progress by participating on their own. The alternate use of"presumptive categorization"and"generative itemization"enables the students to cultivate their evaluating and correcting abilities. By sharing the others'progress and examining the others'mistakes, a student can discover his own flaws in the composition and correct them in time.The new mode is conducive to cultivating self-consciousness and independent character as well as forming good learning strategies of self-examination and self-evaluation.
