The Study On Education Level And Socialization Of The First Urban Singletons Generation

Reform and opening-up policy was decided on the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC. And after that, our govern -ment established a significant policy---encouraging one couple to bear one child in 1979. The two policies have been carried out at the same time for 29 years.There are more and more only-children especially in the cities and have over 100 million. Now, they are coming to the society. The thesis wants to study their culture qualities by the census of the year 2000, sample survey of 2005 in Shanghai and some other questionnaire surveys. And also to find the relative social influences and think of some questions.The dissertation is consisted of five chapters. Chapter one is introduction; research context, concept, research design of the paper are offered. Chapter two offers their living-surroundings, include the social and family surroundings. Chapter three reveals the culture qualities of the first Urban Singletons Generation. And then the Chapter four discuss their social influences. At last, conclusions are drowned in Chapter three and some thoughts are also proposed.Main conclusions of the dissertation are followed.1. Compared to those children without siblings, the only-child have different characteristics: only-child have much longer education; their education level is equal to senior school level; woman's culture level is higher than man's; they have intelligence-advantages but be poor in personality.2. There are many ideas about the only-child social influences. The dissertation discovers that their intelligence-advantages make them work in high-level field which is good for talented person resources; the mobility of only-child likes coin that have two sides; the choice of comfortable working is bad for overview of value. For another thing, the only-child pursues freedom and late marriage what topples the traditions; the increasing of two only-child families may produce more DINK, and also may sharpen the aging of population; lack of the sense of responsibility make their unstable marriage, then influence the stability of the society. The only-child's high culture quality not only can prove the whole people's quality but also can relieve high sex ratio.
