Huang Yanpei is the initiator, a pioneer and synthesizer of the modern vocational education in China. He has devoted his whole life to saving the nation in education and explored the vocational education actively. In 1903, he began to engage in the general education. However, when he found the school education seriously out of line with the realistic society and life, he advocated the Industrial Education in 1913. When he found Industrial Education not only couldn't fundamentally solve the people's "poor", "disease" and livelihood, but also couldn't meet the talent requirement of national industrial development. Therefore, in 1917 he initiated the formation of China's vocational education and advocated vocational education. When the vocational education in 1925 was at low ebb, he also put forward the principle of the vocational education and set up the rural reform experiment positively. After "9.18" incident, he actively joined the anti-Japanese and national salvation movement and entrusted the vocational education a new content. After the New China was founded, Huang Yanpei also created a new China Correspondence Education precedent.His ideological content of vocational education is widespread, broad and profound, and scattered across different periods of education. He started with the concept of the vocational education, explored the goal, the status and the function of the vocational education, and cleared up the people to the understanding of vocational education. He put forward the vocational education policy, the education principle, the moral rule and theoretical system, which promoted the development of the vocational education. He experienced the vocational education by many kinds of ways such as running the vocational school, promoting the continuation education, carrying on the vocational guidance, implements the rural improvement experiment.The thinking of his vocational education has its unique charm. It is the unity of theory and practice, richness and innovation, reference and nativeness and civilian and science; the formation of these characteristics is not separated with his unique learning experience and many years' practical education, his extensive study, investigation and research and follow-up, and learning from foreign advanced education experience, let alone the close social relations between him and the businessmen, the courage of perseverance and tenacity and the spirit of advancing with the times. The defects are to attribute the limitations of education and the class status to the unemployment, exaggerate the limitations of the role of vocational education, make the content complex and arranged without system and so on. His educational activities have great and far-reaching impacts, especially for local and central government decision -making in education, which determines the direction of our country.The theory and practical experience of Huang Yanpei's vocational education are a valuable spiritual wealth in China's education history. The development of vocational education can refer to it. The research of Huang Yanpei and China Vocational Education is of great historical value and practical significance.
