Huang Yanpei was an outstanding modern Chinese patriot,the advocate and founder of vocational education,and a practitioner of the education reform. Influenced by the trend of thought of modern education Huang Yanpei accumulated profound educational theory and rich practical experience. He established a relatively complete theoretical system of vocational education based on the actual situation of education in the old China. The results and valuable experience of the education reform of have been considered a precious spiritual wealth of the Chinese educational history,which offer examples for the current development of vocational schools. With the intensification of education reform in China,struggle and achievements of him in difficult times are of more value. Therefore,researches into the educational theory of Huang Yanpei possess historic and practical significance.This paper applies the literature research method. Abundant treatises have been collected by me concerning the educational theory of Huang Yanpei,including the Collected Works of Huang Yanpei's Education,Collected Works of Huang Yanpei's Researches,and the Investigation Diary of Huang Yanpei,etc. Moreover,researches were done by studying numerous materials. This paper includes analysis of the reasons for the formation of vocational education and the development process and the discussion of the basic contents of his vocational education theory.Secondly,summarizing method has been adopted in the paper. On the premises of researches on relevant materials and combined with some of my personal opinion on the theory,dissection has been completed which touches on the practical significance of Huang Yanpei's vocational education theory on the development of vocational schools. Meanwhile,the paper comments on its role in the development of secondary vocational schools in Lianyungang,Jiangsu Province.The paper as a whole includes four parts:Part one: brief description of the background of research,the situations of domestic and foreign researches and writing methods.Part two: brief introduction about Huang Yanpei's life and educational activities as well as discussion on the causes and development of his theory. On the basis of historical materials,the paper discusses the basic concepts and point of views of Huang Yanpei's vocational education.Part three: This part briefly comments on Huang Yanpei's vocational education theory and the reflected quality and characteristics. It is pointed out that his theory has its scientific and progressive traits but also limitations.Part four: Focusing on the current status of domestic vocational schools,this part elaborates the practical significance the vocational education thought of Huang Yanpei has brought about.
