The Study Of Present Situation And Strategies About Volleyball Selective Event Course In Universities In Jiangsu Province

Physical education (PE) selective courses are the main teaching organizational forms for colleges and universities in our country nowadays. Volleyball selective course has been developed widely in colleges and universities in Jiangsu province for nearly ten years. This paper studied present status of volleyball selective course in colleges and universities in Jiangsu province using questionnaires, references, investigations and interviews. Results showed that: 1. Volleyball sport bases of college students are weak and their interest on volleyball is not high. 2. Generally, item setting for volleyball sports is few and doesn't reach the requirements of students. 3. Teaching ideology and concepts of most of the teachers do not keep up with the requirement of present situation. 4. Teaching content covered mostly on individual technical abilities, and the integral cultivation is scarce. 5. Conventional skill teaching is still popular in teaching modes and methods. 6. Total class hours are different in many colleges and universities. Distribution of class hours and content does not meet students' psychological demands, and is not good for application of skills and formation of volleyball consciousness. 7. Evaluation methods for volleyball exercise are not enough, and the content is lack of integrity yet. 8. Methods for improving individual quality of teachers are rare. By analyzing the above results, we provided corresponding countermeasures in this paper.
