In 2003,China established and promulgated the New Curriculum Standards (Experimental)for the English Course in Senior High Schools.The Task-based Teaching Approach is promoted in the New Curriculum Standards.The approach as a basic path to the realization of the New Curriculium targets,though just at its booming launch,also meets a lot of problems in the current teaching pra(?)tice.In the introduction section the thesis deals with the backgrounds and the significances of the New Curriculum Standards(Experimental),and also with its characteristics,the main problems of the English language teaching in China at present.The literature overview section consists of the following three theoretical reviews of the New English Curriculum Standards,the Task-based Teaching Approach and Effective Teaching.When reviewing the New English Curriculum Standards(Experimental),the author elaborates its basic principles,target structures,analysis of its values,and teaching behaviors initiated by the New Curriculum Standards.As to the review of the Task-based Teaching Approach,the article first elaborates its theoretically advanced basis,and then the relationships between the New Curriculum targets and the Task-based Teaching Approach,and finally defines a variety of concepts of what the Task-based Teaching Approach is in the eyes of different researchers abroad.From the viewpoint of study culture,a great emphasis is laid by the Task-based Teaching Approach upon the learners'learning in using the language productively,and upon the way students are centred and motivated to arouse their creativity to fulfill a series of tasks assigned by the teacher in classroom activities.Different researchers define the Task-based Teaching Approach with dissimilarity.The author of this thesis argues that task-based activities refer to whatever tasks through which language learners want to improve the language,including the tasks listed to be finished in the teaching scheme and the ones conducted in the social intercourse.This shows that the task in the activity is a gradual transition from the language form to the language meaning.Therefore,the relationship between the language form and its meaning should be dealt with properly in the task-based activities,for they are actually a dialectial unity, and they suit the environment in which Chinese students learn English.When reviewing the theory of Effective Teaching,the thesis firstly elaborates the definition of Effective Teaching.The author agrees with the viewpoint of Zhanglu about Effective Teaching.The thesis secondly discusses the standards of Effective Teaching currently listed by the researchers at home and abroad,making an analysis of the structures of Effective Teaching.In the third section of the thesis,"Research on the current situations of the task-based classroom activities and effective teaching behaviors" the author makes two questionnaires according to the research purposes,steps and objects,together with his observations about classroom activities.As to the problems found out through the questionnaires,the author continues to make an analysis of the reasons why the behavior differences take places,and brings to light the key behaviors and the assistance behaviors to help achieve Effective Teaching and in the last section he at last puts forward new ideas on Effective Teaching.
