In the 20th century, foreign language teaching has developed amazingly. But in the 21st century, task-based language teaching approach becomes the highlight of the foreign language teaching .It was clearly put forward by the Chinese government. The point is what the concept of task-based teaching approach is? What is the basic theory and the framework of it? How does the task-based teaching approach influence Chinese reform of foreign language teaching.Task-based language teaching makes tasks be the central units so as to organize,implement and evaluate the language instruction .Task is the key of language teaching process. That is to say in class English teaching circumstance can promote the target language acquisition through the creation of the similarly natural language environment so as to make the students be in the abundant exposure to the target language. It can also let the meaning of language dynamically engender through the accomplishment of task and the solvent of communicative problems between the teacher and the students or among the students .The process can also activate the students'participation and stir up the motivation for study with the support of real language material concerning to the reality along with the intercourse relating to the society.Tasks here are the key issue in the task-based teaching approach throughout the language teaching process. Tasks are also the connection of language exposure, use of language and motivation. So it's necessary to understand the definition,constitution and design of tasks .Every pedagogy needs the support of its theory. Task-based teaching approach takes advantages of the constructivism and the humanistic theory, especially from the language acquisition theory. In order to expatiate on the theory of task-based teaching approach, I follow the clue of subrogating of foreign language pedagogies in 20th century and try to understand the rationale of these pedagogies. Making an effort to comprehend the foundation of task-based teaching approach and apprehending the derivation of task-based teaching approach along with its connotation and characteristic through the response to these questions:Does task-based teaching approach carry forward,develop and reform ? If so, what does task-based teaching approach carry forward,develop and reform? Why does task-based teaching approach can become pedagogy advocated by"The English Course Standards".For the sake of boosting the reformation of foreign language in China,according to the requirement of"The English Course Standards"issued by the Ministry of Education in 2001 and the application of task-based teaching approach in China, the research in the comparison of task-based teaching approach and 3p teaching approach is to deal with whether the former one can be sinified or not and what problems will be faced with. Otherwise, task-based teaching approach promotes the reformation of foreign language teaching with its support by stemming a new modality of pedagogy according to the cultural education of English teaching.
