Task-based language teaching is a catchword in Chinese English circles. It is not a real method but the latest development of communicative method. It holds the belief that language acquisition is achieved only by using it in practical use, so in the English classroom teachers should design various tasks which is of great help in creating a really language environment in learning English. In the process of using English to fulfill the tasks, the leaners acquire English in a natural way and it is not easy to forgetTask-based approach is based on some theories such as Input Hypothesis,Output Hypothesis,Negotication of Meaning, Communicative Language Teaching and Piaget's Constructivism, all of which are the recent achievements in the field of education.psychology and second language acquisition.The purpose of this study is (1)to test the hypothesis that task-based language teaching is more effective than the traditional3P method and the participants will make signifant progress in their comprehensive competence;(2) task-based language teaching is effective in promoting learners'notivation and self efficiency in language acquisition.In order to test the hypothesis of this study, the author has conducted an experiment in two classes of Zhumadian Senior High Schoolfor over3months. Before the experiment began and after the experiment, questionnaire survey was done to determine the level of motivation and self efficiency of the students. The two test made before and after the experiment were used as the tools to check if this approach can improve students'comprehensive competence.Relevant data have been collected and analyzed. The result shows that task-based language teaching is not only effective in promoting students'motivation and self efficiency but also in improving students'comprehensible competence.
