The reason why basketball game maintains its long-lasting charm and highest level in America is that America has the perfect basketball system in the world, of which NCAA basketball association, the reservoir of players for basketball which provides countless players for NBA and other basketball associations, is an important part. With the longest history in world's basketball association in the world, NCAA is advanced in association management. CUBA, with the growth of its scale and influence, has made a prominent progress through its ten year's development. However, there is still a long way to go before it can realize the aim of training high-quality basketball players. Therefore, the present thesis, by applying such methods as documentary, questionnaire, statistics, comparison and analysis, studies NCAA, CUBA and some member teams of them, compares the management of NCAA and CUBA, especially the managements of teams, League management system, competitive system and factors related to the association culture, to learn from NCAA and enhance the level of university basketball in China. The conclusions are as follows:1. By way of making rules to regulate the lowest entrance academic marks, NCAA marco-manages the enrollment of players to ensure that the best players can enter university and that it can be a reservoir of player for NBA and other professional teams. While in China, there are no uniform rules about the enrollment of players with different universities applying different rules which treat applicants according to their competitive levels. What's more, influenced by traditional competition system, CUBA can hardly recruit basketball players of the highest level.2. Besides the routine training, players in NCAA make full use of the other time to train by themselves. So the actual training is long and systematic. And they have a definite motive and consciousness in the training. By contrast, the players in CUBA have training characterized by a comparatively shorter time without additional one, the lack of system, interruptions and influences from the academic studies. Furthermore, they do not have a definite motive.3. In the colleges of NCAA, there is no difference between the academic requirement for the players and normal students—they do not lower the academic standard, which results in a lower graduation ratio of the players. Moreover, NCAA formulates regulations to supervise the academic study of the players by way of restrict the qualifications for the matches. While in CUBA, not having a uniform academic requirement for the players, the colleges themselves supervise them and relate their academic marks with sports marks, which lowers the academic standard and requirement, resulting in a high graduation rate.4. Colleges in NCAA employ the coaches so as to ensure their concentration on their work, competition among them, and urge them to enhance their professional ability. Most of the coaches enjoy a sporting experience and high academic degree. Appointed by the colleges, the coaches in CUBA have to teach besides the everyday training, which prevents them from concentrating on the training. And they do not have a good sporting experience and high degree.5. The NCAA teams are equipped with a comprehensive coach staff with everyone performing his own duties and cooperate with each other to guarantee both the quality and efficiency of the training. Instead of being equipped with so many kinds of coaches, the teams of CUBA have to have their coaches in charge of enrollment, living, training and matches single-handedly. This leads to the consequences that they are distracted from their training and matches and that they cannot ensure the quality and efficiency of their training.6. The fact that the management branch in NCAA enjoys a much independence and self-determining power enables the efficient overall supervision of the league. Similarly, theteams, governed independently in the college, enjoy much independence. Influenced by our system, CUBA league matches have little independence and self-determining power. The reality that the teams are governed by too many braches, that there is no clear-cut division between rights and responsibilities and when something happens they will shun the responsibilities makes it difficult for the management of the team.7. With an stable income and expenditure system, the teams in NCAA have adequate funds which come from extensive sources. The fact that teams in CUBA have a comparatively less sources of funds results from the economic development, and especially from the constraints of the concept of investment and financing—the traditional ideas of "waiting, depending and asking" still dominate the sporting investment in the colleges in our country.8. Compared with NCAA, the matches in CUBA, in each of its phase, have longer intervals and less frequency, which will renders the matches out of line with the training. Characterized by a short time, few matches, the deprivation of opportunity to host a match from most colleges, the commonly adopted norm of preliminary match do not reflect the important role of the preliminaries to the league matches. In addition, the district matches give limited opportunities to the colleges and limited methods in selection of teams which will result respectively in the handicap of the popularization of the league matches and the loss of opportunities to compete in it for some better teams.9. The different cultures foster different league match cultures. NCAA emphasizes the foster of match culture and regards the playground as a stage to show one's characteristic and individuality; while CUBA ignores the foster of a match culture which is harmful for the healthy development of the league matches.
