Civic education should permeate every aspect of curriculum and teaching in schools. This is not only successful experience of developed country, but also the objective request that citizenship society develops. However, there are still some problems existed, for example, our citizenship awareness is weak, the concept and orientation of civic education is obscure, and the implementation ways is insufficient. The research regards our curricula of elementary and high schools and the current normal teaching situation as the carriers of civic education. Through survey and analysis, this paper finds out the weak points of civic education, and put forward some practical suggestions. I hope these suggestions can be useful to the development of theory and practice of civic education.The study includes following four parts:The first part is the "foreword"-Introduction of this article question proposing, sum up the present research results about middle and primary school's civil education, and pointing out this significance of the studies.Second, this part mainly clarifies several related conceptions, such as citizen, civic education. At the same time, the part illustrates the realistic meaning of civic education. Besides, from pedagogic angle, the analysis about the position of civic education in elementary education and comparison between civic education and moral education is also concluded.Third, it is about the realistic scan to civic education curricula: social curricula, Chinese course, science course, sports and art course--including curricula standards and textbooks. Based on the survey and analysis, some suggestions are put forward.Four, this section focuses on the teaching in school--teaching form, teaching method, teaching atmosphere (mainly classroom teaching) and the relationship between teacher and student. The current situation of civic education and practical reasons for the lack of citizen awareness in school are also exploited. Besides, in new course background, the transforms of teaching concept and practice bring a chance to civic education. For this reason, we must construct students' citizen awareness through democratic teaching, and make them become the good citizens who accords with the modern social request.
