The United States since the founding set around historical subjects made a series of reforms, the status of the discipline of history has also experienced change, the discipline of history played a role in the field of civic education around the patriotism.the rights and obligations of political participation of several aspects are discussed. This paper reviews the basic context of the high school history education in the United States since the founding of New China, and analysis of the status and role of a high school history education in civic education, the text of the Introduction, body, conclusion. Earlier to clarify the question of the meaning of legislation, research trends at home and abroad, and research ideas.Body divided into three chapters, the first chapter expounds the development course of American history education, history of education in the development of the role of civic education. From the history of education in training students in the national consciousness and identity, political literacy, the development of the awareness of the rights and obligations of students, and the formation of students’ values and the ability to critically accepted social values play an active role in civic education. Around the gain and loss in the history education in the United States to reflect on the problems in the history of education in our country.
