With the implementing of course reformation, rural middle schools also take considerable actions towards reformation. But from present teaching situation, there still remains a chalk, a blackboard and tape record. So it must be reformed if we want to have best effect in 45 minutes. Thus multimedia-assisted language teaching is introduced. This media is helpful to inspire students' learning and deepen course reformation. Using modern teaching media is not only the reformation and development of teaching methods, but also strengthening the reformation of teaching ideas and teaching theories. Along with technologies developing, the study of multimedia-assisted language teaching has been improved. But in the practice of rural middle school, there are divergences.This study begins with present English class teaching of multimedia-assisted language teaching. Then it provides some theoretical guide and methods and solves some puzzles in English teaching. So multimedia assisted language teaching can be used effectively in English teaching and English teaching quality can be improved. The writer found there exists the following problems by analyzing the questionnaires and interviews in rural middle schools:1) Multimedia-assisted language is at the initial stage, the equipment and teacher's abilities of operating the media are poor, multimedia is only the decoration;2) Multimedia-assisted language teaching is a demonstration, that is an instrument of performance when there are other teachers sitting in the classrooms; 3) The multimedia coursewares are lack of common use;4) Multimedia-assisted language teaching neglects students' initiative. The reasons are as the following:1) Teachers are lack of teaching reformation awareness;2) Teaching theories deviate from teaching ideas.Because of those questions above, the writer had an experiment in two classes in the same grade in a rural middle school in Hengshan to testify whether there is necessary to use multimedia-assisted language teaching. And there are questionnaires and examination in the experiment. Through the research, the writer gives some suggestions:1) Multimedia-assisted language teaching should relate teaching contents closely;2) Multimedia-assisted language teaching should design well;3) Multimedia-assisted language teaching should fully consider learners' individual differences;4) Only following the multimedia-assisted language teaching rules and approaches, it can fit the needs of teaching and help students grasp language knowledge.In rural middle schools, teachers are anxious for renewing teaching ideas and teaching methods, and recognize multimedia correctly in language teaching. So as to make the multimedia play its full advantages.
