The development of the society and the progress of the times demand the education to cultivate the students' ability of self-management. And this ability is also the needs of the growth of the students. It is more important to the junior middle school students who are experiencing the great physical and mental change of puberty. As a method to improve the growth of students healthily, group activities play indispensable roles in cultivating the students' ability of self-management.There have been many researches on how to cultivate students' ability of self-management, but there are not many research on how the students' group activities improve the ability of self-management. This thesis, use the production of psychology for reference, probes into the psychological mechanism and the needs for external factors of the students' group activities influence the ability of self-management. Therefore it may help to improve the students' group activities.This thesis defines the concept of self-management and analyses the meaning of it, then analyses the mental factors which influence the junior middle school students' ability of self-management. It supposes that students' group activities, as the external activities of individual, construct each other with the internal activities of individual. Therefore, students' group activities play important roles in cultivating students' ability of self-management to improve the individual's growth. And then, this thesis points out the problems in the students' ability of self-management nowadays, and the shortages of the students' group activities in cultivating students' ability of self-management followed, including that the activities are not very rich and interesting, not deep enough, and neglect the self-determination of students, etc. Then the reason for such problems has been discussed from the situation, the idea, the educational wisdom, etc. Finally, some suggestion on how to reform the students' group activities to cultivate the students' ability of self-management have been raised to the educators and educational administrators. These suggestion include : educators should change and improve their ideas about educational activities, about how the students' group activities improve the students' growth, about students, about the relationship between the students and students' group activities, and about the role of the educator himself. Educational administrators should take measures to push and support the students' group activities. School leaders should help to construct the relationship between the schools and other units out of the schools, such as some enterprises, other schools, universities, etc. They also need to creates a good circumstance which benefit to the students' group activities, and need to help the teachers' professional development. The administrators of bureaus of education should change the ideas about students' group activities of themselves and create an good ecological environment for students' group activities, and they also need give the actual supports. The students' group activities should help the students to gain rich experience. The teachers should give the students the rights of self-determination, and guide them properly. They also need to create the conditions to help students take part in the activities with their hearts.
