Teachers' organizational commitment is an agreement between the teachers and the school which has not been specified definitely in writing. Therefore, how to use the agreement effectively to keep and stimulate the teachers becomes an issue confronting the administrative departments in all colleges. With the teachers in the independent colleges as the experiment objects, the paper first proves the five-dimensional mode of the teachers' organizational commitment in the independent colleges, then explores the current situation of the teachers' organizational commitment in the independent colleges and the variation of organizational commitment in terms of the population statistic variables. In the end of the article, some suggestions are put forward to enhance the level of teachers' organizational commitment.The major conclusions of the research are as follows:1,The teachers' organizational commitment mode in the independent colleges of China includes five dimensions:ideal commitment, economy commitment, standard commitment, opportunity commitment and emotion commitment.2,The overall teachers' organizational commitment in independent colleges is at the intermediate level, with the relatively high level in standard commitment and emotion commitment while the levels of ideal commitment, economy commitment and opportunity commitment are comparatively low.3,The population statistic variables of the independent colleges have some influence on the teachers' work. The following shows the specific impacts:(1)With regard to sex, the men's overall commitment is lower than that of women.(2)When it comes to age, the overall organizational commitment and each dimension vary with the ages. The teachers of different age groups in independent colleges show remarkable difference in emotion commitment; the average score of those under 30 and those between 30 and 40 is higher than those of other age groups, while in other four commitments, they manifest no marked distinction.(3)In terms of marriage, the score of the married is higher than that of the single in the organizational commitment and its dimension.(4)As for degree, the opportunity commitment, opportunity commitment and emotion commitment of the undergraduates top high while the scores of the teachers with doctoral degrees rank lowest in every dimension.(5) Considering the title, the lecturers top the first, but the professors the lowest in the overall organizational commitment.(6)As to the teaching age, the teachers in independent colleges with different teaching ages display no considerable difference. But generally speaking, those who work for less than two years make the most commitment while those working for more than six years make the least commitment.(7) In view of the major, there exist general differences between the art teachers and the science teachers.
