The curriculum reform on basic education has been unprecedentedly emphasized round the world since the end of last century. Following the time steps, a series of powerful reforms, such as syllabuses, Materials and methodologies and course's systems etc., has taken place in China . Among of which, the most important parts are the teaching materials. At the same time it is also the core of reform, not only concerning the content of teaching and its forms but also the foundation for the teaching reform development. With the improvements and deepness of the reform, English Teaching materials come to realize diversification from one textbook according to one standard under the guidance of the National New Course Criteria. For the great appearance of so many materials, it is necessary to study for teachers how to scientifically analyze and commend teaching materials, how to correctly comprehend the materials and even how to use them.This thesis has been written on the basis of"the Criteria of Mid-school English for Full time junior middle school according to the characteristics and functions of teaching materials, wide reference of material commendations at home and abroad, and aware of many papers concerned from the viewpoints of China's material reform for the new turn. In this article, the analysis of the editorial purpose and features of editors and the certain users'evaluation of the materials have also been covered. And based on such principles some questions have been raised as follows: what are the problems in use of the"Go for it", what are the causes of leading these problems; the policies of coping with these problems; And the author of this article also visited some teachers and students who have already used the materials, collecting and analyzing the cause of some problems remained in the materials. And at last some suggestions and solutions have been objectively offered in this paper.In accordance with internal and external evaluations, this article came to realize that there are some advantages of the new materials: They have reflected the educational idea of human being; solidified the approaches to teaching that are superior over others; covered the wide content with new ages, amplified evolution content—students as the main body and teachers as the guide. But there still exists some disadvantages: In content it stresses the life of students in cities and the native lands far from the life in country-side; the teachers'quality doesn't fit the requirement of the new materials; as the introduction of the original foreign text-books, there exists some mistakes in itself; lack of phonetics and intonation; parts of knowledge are inequitable in edition; some attached materials need to be improved. Certain suggestions have been offered in this article so as to raise the teachers'quality, improve the teaching system, better materials, complete the teaching resources and strengthen education and training of teachers etc.The aim of this article is to help the teachers who are using or to use the materials to understand and master it objectively, scientifically and selectedly in their teaching.
