This thesis focuses on the stimulation of the middle-school students' English academic motivation. Through some research methods—the test, the interview, observation and record, it is expected to stimulate the motivation of the students. It is found that students' motivation can be stimulated through teacher's effective teaching methods. Teachers can help students overcome the fear of difficulties and thus enhance students' English learning enthusiasm. Through the research it is discovered that the main reason why the students fail to learn English well is that they have weak motivation and incorrect attribution. It is also a problem that the students can't realize the real reason why they can't learn well and that some students lack the correct cognition to English learning. Therefore, in the experimental study, the author implemented the learning strategy instruction, utilized stimulating theory, and helped the students to have correct attribution. The findings of the study shows that the students have benefited a lot from it, they began to recognize why they couldn't learn English well and how they can learn well in the future. They have been aware of their latent sense of incentives to achievement, which makes their motivation strengthened reasonably, so that the students have formed an appropriate intensity of motivation. When stimulating students' English academic motivation, the teacher must understand what the students need, make it clear whether the students' need is reasonable and how to satisfy their needs. Through a series of efforts, the author helps the students to learn and use some useful cognitive and performing strategies, thus, the students' academic motivation has been stimulated, and rationally strengthened, which helps the students learn English successfully. This thesis consists of five chapters, Chapter One discusses the background and significance of the study; Chapter Two focuses on the literature review; Chapters Three and Four describe the research methodology and discuss the results of the empirical studies; last chapter summarizes the findings of the study and provides some implications to the English teaching.
