Prose has always been an important part in the Chinese teaching in middle schools. However, for a long time, in the prose teaching the requirement that examination-oriented education prized over everything made us neglect the whole appreciation of the beauty effect and the prose teaching has changed into a process of analyzing the language points, which breaks up the whole prose and loses its whole beauty. As a result, students lose the interest in the study of prose.Prose is beautiful. But in the teaching process we used to be satisfied with the general analysis. We haven't studied the aesthetic connotation of the prose deeply and completely. The paper discusses the prose teaching in three parts on the basis of teaching practice. The first part is a general description of prose and an analysis of its characteristics. The second part is based on the first part, discussing the tactics and four patterns of prose teaching:①get the ideas into the shape and grasp the key eyes of the article,②taste the language and appreciate its styles,③appreciate and analyze the artistic conception and the true feelings,④on the basis of the appreciation improve students'ability of writing. In addition, the paper uses different teaching cases to prove these four patterns. The third part discusses the purpose of the prose teaching—taking the affective education into consideration, and discusses affective education from its importance and purpose.
