To deal with the common problems of high time consumption and low efficiency in middle school English teaching and that teachers put too much emphasis on the teaching of English language knowledge while ignoring the development of students' language capability, the thesis, on the empirical research, advocates situational approach, that is, to design an appropriate language learning situation to improve the students' capability to use the English language by analyzing, researching and experimenting.The research mainly adopts literature study and case study. The last part deals with how to use the ways mentioned in the previous chapter in different steps language teaching.No doubt, there will be a lot of difficulties in applying the ways and methods talked about in the thesis. There are always too many students in one class and students lack the environment to use English out of class. In addition, the teachers' language ability is also not quite satisfactory. All those factors have impacts on designing and applying an appropriate language situation. As a result, the research still remains to be further studied and improved.
