Teaching is a process involving teachers and students, in which teaching is separated from learning but both cannot take place of each other. They have great impact on education. Our good Chinese teaching tradition and some contemporary prodecessors both have contributed a lot to our reform of Chinese teaching as well as have accumulated large quantities of precious experiences. The new course standard focuses on the new learning concept of self, cooperative and exploratory study. Students are supposed to be considered as the principal part during the learning process. Under such a special circumstance, this thesis deals with problems concerning how to assist students with their self-study, i.e, students are expected to decide their own way and rate of progress while what teachers need to do is cultivate students' interest in leaning Chinese and assist them in mastering the basic knowledge and reading skills so as to improve their leaning ways through developing their good habits in learning. This thesis follows such a writing clue that it raises the new teaching concept of self-learning and assistance teaching through the focus of the new course concept on self-study and students' individual characters as well as the sucessful experiences of education predecessors. And it makes an analysis of the relationship among the new concept, teaching principals, and self-study. Finally, the body of this paper will describe the teaching strategies of self-study assistance.
