In recent years, with the establishment and improvement of market economic system, it is so gradually enlarged with the autonomy and scale in college that we have to face up with a sharp competition. Each university faces a question that is how to exploit their advantages to compose factors and adjust their educational structure on capacity of management, research, scientific development and organizing culture of resources. Only in this way, Universities can adjust to the demands from the external environment and keep their capacity of persistence and balance.Under this background, it becomes an investigated and serious question about how to develop a university, how to work out the strategy of development and how to enforce it. The strategy of college development is the blueprint and guiding principle of college development. At the same time, it also has the guiding effect to the main approach, the path and the measure on the development of colleges. But it is not a static plan which can put things right once and for all. It is a process which needs to be conceived, compensated and adjusted. From the different perspective to see the strategy of college development, the logical paths could be different. The US is a powerful nation on higher education, and the Harvard is the leading representative , the successful experience of the Harvard University has profound enlightenment to our country University, and has many in worth of reference and studying .This essay study in the development strategy of Harvard University after World War II, and try to discuss on logical route of the university developmental strategy from the following several aspects .With " on the development strategy of Harvard University after world-war II" as the title, this article, using the methods of systems analysis and summary on the basis of a large number of detailed historical data.The first chapter discusses the historical background and significance of the topic, the studies at home and abroad and the methods and difficulties in this study from four levels. Then the second chapter analyzes the development strategy of the connotations, elements and characteristics in university. Based on this, chapter III divides the development of Harvard after World War II into three historical stages, and carries on the analysis to each stage internal and external environment. The external environment includes the political environment, the economic environment, and the technical environment and so on. The internal environment mainly refers to the internal tendency of the development of higher education. The environment change is the starting point of university strategy management, and is also the basis to formulate the university developmental strategy. It not only brings a new challenge to the university, but simultaneously it can also create the opportunity. To confront with the changes in and abroad as well as the own development of the Harvard University, Harvard University carried on a accurate localization to development priorities,according to its own superiority and the inferiority, the opportunity and the threat external environment provides, as well as the analysis to higher education that time in the three different historical stages.In chapter IV,the article has grasped the guiding principle of Harvard University after World War II. It analyzed and indicated the developmental strategy guiding principle from the education values to seek the truth,the society values to serve the society,the modern university view to open the international field of vision,and the basic idea to initiate the academic freedom school。In chapter V, the focus of development strategies and measures of Harvard University after World War II were analyzed. After the formation of the development goals, the University should establish the focus on different strategies, at the same time with a certain degree of strategic initiatives to help achieve its objectives, and ultimately to achieve the objective; These strategies include general education development strategy, the core curriculum strategies, teachers strategy, financial strategy, international strategy, etc. These factors are the keys to the development of Harvard University and got a stable position in the fierce competition, so it is an important reason for the Harvard University to have a sustainable development.Finally, in chapter VI, it analyzes and evaluates the overall development strategy at the core of the specific measures on the development strategy of Harvard University. The evaluation focuses on the social environment, university presidents, general education, and educational management. In the structure of the study, it horizontally launched at Harvard University's guiding ideology, development goals, the development of countermeasures and practice, and vertically, the concept of the Harvard University is indicated throughout, trying to make it complete in depth and form a clear network structure, so as to show the whole development strategy of Harvard University after World War II in a three-dimensional place.
