As the key part of the plane analytic geometry, conic sections display the essential idea of the analytic geometry, which is considered as a focusing content at a high level in college entrance examinations.Recently, constructivism theory has become a prevailing learning theory. Its focusing points: learning is not a passive process for students receiving knowledge from teachers, but an active construction of students'self-owned knowledge and experience. On the basis of social environment, the construction has the social characteristic. Therefore, the main idea of the construction process can be summarized as emphasizing that students actively discover and construct significance of the self-owned knowledge.With the rapid development of mathematics education, many teachers have widely carried on the study and research about the reform of mathematics education during a new process of teaching reform. Firstly, the thesis summarizes the content, teaching demand of conic sections and main idea of constructivism theory. Secondly, through analysis of the learning factors of conic sections and linking the main idea of constructivism theory with self-owned teaching experience, a new strategy is proposed for the teaching of conic sections based on the constructivism theory. This teaching strategy is concluded as arousing the learning interest of students, displaying the forming process of knowledge, permeating the idea of mathematics, summarizing the typical method of solving problems, training the innovative consciousness of students. Finally,the validity and operatability of the teaching strategy have been tested.
