The cultivation of students' mathematics core quality is an important target in the process of the elementary education reform in recent years,and also the core that teachers need to explore and exchange in teaching process.In order to change the original teaching mode and teaching method,teachers need to put particular emphasis on the cultivation of students' core quality,so that they can gradually form the necessary character to adapt to individual life-long development and social needs.The teaching of conic sections in high school teaching materials is always a difficult point.The fact that teachers have difficulty in teaching it and students feel like it far exceeded their abilities results in the low scores in the college entrance examination.In view of the tough situation of teaching and learning of the conic sections in the town schools,based on the principle of cultivating students' mathematics core quality,this paper makes an in-depth study on the optimization of the conic sections teaching in high school.This paper seeks the advantages and disadvantages of teachers in teaching through the interview and lecture records of teachers and students' difficulties in learning from the feedback of interviews and questionnaires.For the purpose of cultivating students' mathematical core quality,the teaching activities of conic sections in senior high school should be optimized to improve students' mathematical performance from the perspectives of 'four bases(short for basic knowledge,basic skills,basic ideas and basic activity experience)' and ZPD(i.e.Zone Proximal Development)in teaching.The author designs the case analysis of "hyperbolic curve and its standard equation" and "parabola and its standard equation",try to optimize the current high school conic teaching activities,so as to improve students' math results.In terms of teaching suggestions,this paper puts forward appropriate teaching operations from the following aspects: Mathematical Abstraction,visual imagination,mathematical operation,logical reasoning and mathematical modeling,which are beneficial to the teaching practice of front-line teachers.There are also a few suggestions for teachers and students in teaching,to consolidate the learning of this part of the conic curve.
