The most important point of this thesis is family values. It is known to all that family values are the key ingredients in the research of cultural values. They have great influence on the behavior of the members in the family. Family life is the basic miniature of the social economic activity. Because Family is the basic section that constitutes the society, the values of the family members have direct effect on what they do and what they think. That is to say, the values of the society rely on values in the family in a large degree. So we can say the influence caused by family values is much deeper, more widespread and further. The reason why is that, in the first place, it's family values that firstly work on people in the family. Then, the influence of family values will last long once it came into existence in people's mind. In the end, family values have close relationship with the development of the society. In conclusion, the research to family values is necessary and important.Based on the consideration to cross-cultural study, my thesis chose the comparative study of Sino-American family values as the theme of the article and then analyzed family values (marriage values, education values, honor values respectively) from the following aspects:Chapter One deals with education values. In this chapter, the aims and contents of education values between China and America are compared, and telling people that there exists lots of differences between Sino -American education values in many ways because of the differences between family values. Chapter Two compared the relationship and activity of the family members like husband and wife, and their attitudes towards their position, marriage, sex life, etc. The thesis pointed out that the gap among these factors are probably caused by the differences in family values. In Chapter Three different attitudes and outlooks of the family members towards economic benefit and honor of the family are analyzed in detail. In the last chapter, a further discussion was taken to make clear that why family values between China and America are different. To make it more obvious the thesis made a comparison between the family models and house styles that result in different thinking and behavior patterns. They also have great influence on the formation of family values. At the same time, family is the basic unit of the society. In turn, the society consists of different family. In that case, the family will affect the thinking approach, behavior rules and the mind of the family members. As a result, differences of the family values in these two countries will come to existence in many ways. Of course, the main factors like religion, history, literature and movie work cant escape from it. The thesis made a further discussion about the reasons why Sino-American family values are different by comparing these factors.By using method of clear and direct comparison, the thesis indicates that the tendency of the two types of family values is more easily understood by the people in the two countries and made it easy for people to understand the behavior patterns of each other and formed a common values that is based on the different values. Because of the limitation of the history, society, area and different living and growing environment, we can't ask for the perfect unity of the two different family values. But the cost in combination is expected to be the lowest. The thesis made some comparative discussion that traced back to the origin and truth of the formation of the family values. It bridged over the communication gap between the two different family values. All in all, it's the discussion in the thesis that people start to know the existence of the two different family values and to get familiar with them, and then to admit them, to understand them, in the end, to be partly combined.
