Xiamen City Schools Swimming Activities Situation And Countermeasures

Based on documentation, survey, statistics, logic analysis, comparative law and other research methods, focusing on the research into managers, PE teachers and parents from primary and secondary schools of each district in Xiamen, and investigating the situation of the status of swimming in the schools from survival education's point of view, the paper analyses the main problems and their causes existing in the process of swimming, dissects the necessity to the priority of swimming survival education, and does a more systematic analysis on the countermeasures for swimming development of primary and secondary schools in Xiamen.The research shows that in recent years, the rate of drowning in Xiamen is 36 percent of students' non-normal deaths, which are enrolled in primary and secondary schools and kindergartens. Drowning has become the first cause of death beyond other types of injuries in Xiamen, which happened in children under the age of 14. With economic progressing, swimming pools add , however, it is not satisfied to promote the swimming subject in primary and secondary schools in this city. In fact, except the First Middle school, most schools have not swimming lessons. The above all are related to many problems, such as the swimming complex's faci(?)ities in the schools are not sound enough, teachers' shortages, security considerations, and so on. Now, some types of swimming training class currently popular in the society and have become one of the good ways to swim, which is the main mode for the primary and middle school students to learn swimming.As an area of facing the ocean, Xiamen is such kind of city with a higher drowning incident rate. So developing the swimming survival education to make students master swimming skills, and implementing the goal that every student can swim in primary and secondary schools has become imperative.This paper proposes the countermeasures and suggestions of promoting all the primary and secondary school students in Xiamen to learn how to swim. It is aimed at providing scientific and theoretical basis for Xiamen Board of Education Decision-making Departments, with a view to make references for the development of swimming, promotes education sector to pay more attention to the swimming survival education, improves students swimming skill, prevents the drowning accidents and injuries, and gives inspiration for China's other regions to develop swimming in primary and secondary schools.
