English textbooks are not only an important part for teachers' teaching,but also for students' self-study,which is essential for achieving the curriculum's goal.Grade Seven is the transition between the primary school and junior middle school;and English textbooks play the role of connecting.With the curriculum reforms,a lot of questions about the compilation,selection and usage,of textbooks have also emerged in this stage. Thus the author chooses two sets of textbooks(Go for it and Project English) in Grade Seven for comparison,which is essential for research and must have practical significance.There are four parts in this thesis.In the introduction,the author discusses the need, purpose and significance for researching,and then put forward the idea methods of this study on the basis of analyzing the existing study.In the second part,the author introduces he main criterion of compiling English textbooks in China,which is also carried out on the basis of analyzing.In the third part,first of all the author makes the theoretical position of two sets of textbooks from the view of curriculum and language. Second,according to the criterion of English curriculum standards,the author make the stabile analysis for textbooks from five aspects,such as skills,knowledge,attitude, strategies and the awareness of culture in language learning.In order to enable more objectivity and authenticity,in the fourth part the author does the survey through the questionnaire and then conducted a statistical analysis,achieving the dynamic assessment of textbook.In the fifth part,the author makes the advantages and disadvantages of two versions.On this basis,the author makes some suggestions for Department of Educational Administration on how to choose the suitable set of textbook relying on different situations.On how to change the concept of teaching,how to use,activated materials,as well as abilities the author puts forward some suggestions for the teachers' reference.Providing some advice for editors of textbooks on how to compile the knowledge,train language skills and cultural awareness,it would be fit for the need of today's instruction,especially for the need of transition between the primary school and junior middle school.
