In recent years, not only the interviewees complain about the difficulty in successfully obtaining a job via various job interviews, but also many interviewers complain about the difficulty in scouting the really fitted candidates. Is there anything wrong with barely the only one channel - job interview, in recruitment for both the company and the candidate? Or are there any rules underlying the job interviews that we can follow in order that the interviewees can perform better and the interviewers examine the applicants in a more scientific and efficient way? In this thesis, I'd like to probe into the job interviews in the perspective of applied linguistics based on the data collected. The theories I conducted mainly include the conversational analysis theory and the speech act theory. The data is about all the conversations that I had transcribed during all the interviews I participated in. Through the study, some meaningful implications are revealed for the candidates searching for a job. It is especially helpful to the fresh graduates who are about to graduate from the university and are still unsure of what to say or how to respond to the interviewer's questions in a job interview. This kind of guideline is even more important during the current job situation this year, which is unprecedentedly tough and full of fierce competition. In this sense, to know better about some disciplines underlying job interviews will be of much help for the fresh graduates searching for a job, for they would be more confident and well-prepared when taking part in an interview and thus avoiding detour on their road to the first fittest job position in their careers.
