With the development of society and civilization, great changes have taken place in family structure and working environment. Given the limited energy and time dedicated to work and family affairs, it is hard to balance between work and family. Numerous studies abroad have discovered that work-family conflict affects not only people's health, satisfaction, work achievement, but also the performance and efficiency of the organization. Relevant studies have been mainly carried out in European countries and the US, and the achievements are fruitful. In contrast, there is comparatively less related research made in China, especially on the college female teachers. So to what extent does work and family conflict for professional female teachers in college within such a special cultural context as in China? What is the cause and effect of the work-family conflict as well as the relationship between? How to balance them? This research attempts to answer the above questions through an empirical method, taking into account Chinese specific culture and the professional characteristics of college teachers. In this study research methods such as literature review, interview and questionnaire are applied to probe into the extent, structure, measurement and application of college female teachers' work-family conflict. By means of SPSS 11.5, especially factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, the following conclusions are drawn:1. Characterization and prominence analysis show that there exists a serious interference of work in family. The work-family conflict among college female teachers is markedly higher than that among the male ones.2. Factor analysis show that the college female teacher work-family conflict consists of both work interference in family and the reverse.3. correlation analysis and regression analysis, reveal that the length of work time and the child's age are the main factors causing the conflict.4.The college female teachers' work-family conflict exerts a negative influence on the levels of society, college, family and individual.Based on the above results, the thesis put forward some suggestions from the macro-, middle- and micro-perspectives, so as to balance the work-family conflict among college female teachers. This study helps to ease the college teachers' work-family conflict, offer a significant reference point for other similar groups, and play an important role in building a socialist and harmonious society.
