Work and family are the basically part of the modern life. People have to cope with the problems from work and family. In western country, this problem began to be studied in 1960'. But in China, studies on this problem are less. And there are almost no study about work and family conflict in university teachers. How university teachers balance their work and family, not only affect their own life, but the work efficiency and the teaching qualitative and teachers' management in university. And it also concern about our harmonious universities. As to female university teachers, affected by the traditional social role divided, they need to bear more family burden. But their work needs are also the same. So they may experience high level work-family conflict. The study first concerns about the three types of university teachers' work family conflict. And then the antecedents and results of work-family conflict. At last, the study supposes some useful and operated strategies which can help female university teachers to cope with their life and work.This study use interview and questionnaire survey method. The first study interviews and 32 university teachers. The second and third study survey 105 female university teachers, and make some correlation and regression analysis based on the data by spss12.0 software. And also make confirmatory factor analysis by Amos5.0. The major findings in this study are as follows:1. There are two types of work-family conflict in university teachers, time based work-family conflict and strain based work-family conflict. Behavior based work-family conflict is not found in this study.2. Type A personality and high negative affect of female university teachers experience high level work-family conflict. Positive affect is more concern about work and family benefit.3. Couples who take some strategies and colleague support can help female university teachers experience more work-family benefit. But there are no superior support and organize friendly policy and the couple strategies affect their work and family conflict.4. There are correlation between female university teachers' work-family conflict and work satisfaction and life satisfaction. Work and family benefit are correlated with work satisfaction and life satisfaction. According to these results, the study supposes some useful strategies to lighten female teachers' work- family conflict.
