The course named "the Theories of Physical Education Teaching" is one part of the syllabus "the Core Courses of the Physical Education Major in Ordinary Institutions of Higher Education". It takes the great responsibility of imparting the principles of physical education and the teaching theories as well as cultivating qualified talents of physical education; this indicated the significance of the course. Ever since the first book in our country bearing the name "The Theories of PE Teaching" came out in 1988, more than ten kinds of different versions have emerged in the brief period of 20 years, which clearly shows that our research on the book The Theories of PE Teaching is still unremitting. Numerous PE experts and curriculum experts have carried out a lot of researches on the issues of the theories of PE teaching from diverse value orientations and have made some achievements, which will greatly enhance the development of the theories of PE teaching. However, as the ideas about PE teaching are constantly changing, especially after the reform of the new PE curriculums, many relative problems have come out. For example, the atmosphere in class is very dull and mechanical, and the students show little interest in study and are very passive and inflexible, they resent study. What's more, teachers teach the lessons in a routine way and are lacking in innovation. Coincidentally, these problems are just what the theories of PE teaching deals with and researches on. This shows that there are literally some shortcomings in the existing researches on PE teaching: there is a discrepancy between the actual condition and the required condition. In terms of the setting up of the content, the practice has distracted from the theories.Without doubt, the only way to change the current situation is to optimize and perfect the content system of the theories of PE teaching, We should handle different problems with different ways according to their specific characteristics. And this research just takes this goal as its starting point, using document-based method to collect and arrange the materials about the content of the present theories of PE teaching; compare-and -analyze method to compare and analyze the content setting up of different versions of the theories; logical reasoning method to construct the required condition of the content system of the theories so as to solve the problem and eventually to promote the development of PE teaching, the development of overall teaching and most importantly the development of students.The key structure of this research is: First of all, it elaborates on the problems of the current different versions of the theories of PE teaching regarding the setting up of the content system; secondly it talks about the factors of constructing the content system of the theories of PE teaching. At last it deals with the content system of the theories of PE teaching this research constructs. The main innovation of this research lies in: firstly, it studies the problem from a microcosmic perspective. The previous researches were mainly done from a macrocosmic perspective and didn't deal much with the internal issues of PE teaching. And it is true that a microcosmic perspective can make up for the drawbacks of a macrocosmic perspective. Another innovative point lies in the effort of this research to optimize and perfect the content system under the guidance of new teaching concept after the reform of curriculum and strengthen the system's practical function as well as stick out its academic feature so as to construct a new healthy teaching mode.This research tries to optimize and perfect the content system of the theories of PE teaching. By doing so it aims to make clear the researching category of the theories of PE teaching so as to promote the development of the theories of PE teaching.
