When the film is used to record the cultural heritage in minority nationality regions, it is assumed that the true image of the region that has been visited is ruined. From this point of view, this dissertation attempts to uncover the media violence of the film. Combining the perspectives of film and anthropology, the dissertation investigates how people are alienated by the film that originally tries to record them and the dissertation focuses on the mask of visual anthropology.Film carrying violence not only influences the audiences' knowledge on unfamiliar regions but also gradually assimilates the local inhabitants who reconstruct their lives, identify and know themselves based on the film that has been twisted.Investigating a typical case and carrying out fieldwork, this study attempts to demonstrate what is disguised in the film that originally tries to record the local people in a minority nationality region. This study analyzes the previous films on a totem dance called "Laohusheng" of Yi nationality, which originated from Shuangbai county in Chuxiong of Yunnan province in China, and the study compares these existing films with our fieldwork carried out in Shuangbai county. The film analysis on "Laohusheng" of Yi nationality and the investigation in the form of return visit are the research approaches of this dissertation."Laohusheng" of Yi nationality in Shuangbai county is a typical anthropological symbol. In addition, the districts included in Shuangbai, especially villages such as Xiaomaidichong and the local inhabitants possess an important anthropological characteristic.Conducting an investigation in the field, comparing the data collected and the exiting films, the present study tries to explore the influence of the film on this specific region. The present dissertation is not limited to a case study but has its significance in introspecting the film as a medium and in contributing to the construction of the discipline of visual anthropology.
