Research On The Attitude Of Normal University Students To Homosexuality And Attitude Change

With the development of Chinese society,more and more people begin to concern homosexual groups.Based on previous research,the influential factors of attitude on homosexuality are explored deeply and study on attitude change is also carried out in this paper.Three parts consist of the whole study,which are introduced separately as follows:The first part aims to explore the factors which affect people's attitude toward homosexuality.The influence of gender,gender role,profession,whether singleton,attitude toward sex,attitude to other ways of sexual intercourse in addition to penis-vagina mode and attitude toward traditional morality is investigated through questionnaires.The results are as follows:There exists significant differences on the questionnaire of attitude toward homosexuality for subjects of different gender,showing boys have more scores than girls. The attitude of subjects to male homosexuality is significantly different from that to female homosexuality,showing that subjects have more scores in questionnaire of attitude toward male homosexuality than female homosexuality.Singleton have less scores than the others. Attitude toward homosexuality is significantly different for students of different major,as opposed to psychology,physics,English,fine arts,history,foreign language,economics, students of biology major have more scores in questionnaire of attitude toward homosexuality. Attitude toward sex and attitude to other ways of sexual intercourse in addition to penis-vagina mode are positively correlated to attitude toward homosexuality and attitude on social morality is positively correlated to attitude about homosexuality.The difference of attitude toward homosexuality is not significant for the four gender role types of male while significant for those of female which shows that feminine girls have more scores in questionnaire of attitude toward male homosexuality than masculine girls.The second part aims to explore the role that different attribution of homosexuality plays in changing female heterosexuals' attitude on male homosexuality.The specific method is to test three groups of the same qulity separately,each group is provided with different material:A(read story about homosexuality and attribute homosexuality to genes),B(read story about homosexuality and attribute homosexuality to environment) and C(only read story about homosexuality).Then comparison of their scores in questionnaire of attitude toward homosexuality before and after reading is made.The results show that group A and group C have a positive change while group B has a negative change.The third part is designed to explore the difference of attitude to male homosexuality on behavioral level between female heterosexuals whose attitude on homosexuality changes from negative into positive and those who have always been holding positive attitude towards homosexuality by means of interaction between subjects and homosexual or heterosexual partners,analysis of their self-description as well as information inquiry and how they like their parteners.The results show that two kinds of subjects have no significant difference on self-description.Significant difference exists in self-description of physical characteristics when their partners' sexual orientation are undefinite showing that when having heterosexual partner,sbjects have more self-description on their own physical characteristics than having homosexual partners.Two types of subjects have significant difference in information inquiry,showing that subjects whose attitude to homosexuality changes from negative into positive ask more about their homosexual parteners than those who have been always positive to homosexuality;subjects whose partners' sexual orientation is different have significant difference in information inquiry showing that subjects with homosexual partner ask more about their partners than those with hetersexual partners.Subjects whose attitude to homosexuality changes from negative into positive like their homosexual partner more than heterosexual partner.The following conclusions are reached according to the above results:1.Cotrast to girls,boys hold more negative attitude to homosexuality.2.Subjects have more negative attitude toward male homosexuals.3.Compared with students of psychology,physics,English,fine arts,history,foreign language,economics major,students of biology major show more negative attitude on homosexuality.4.singleton have less negative attitude than students who have brothers or sisters.5.Attitude toward sex and attitude on other way of sexual intercourse in addition to penis-vagina mode are positively correlated to attitude toward homosexuality.6.Attitude on social morality is positively correlated to attitude about homosexuality. 7.Feminine girls have more negative attitude on male homosexuality than masculine girls.8.Sujects who read story about homosexuality and attribute homosexuality to genes show a negative change in attitude toward homosexuality;those who read story about homosexuality and attribute homosexuality to environment have a positive change and subjects who only read story about homosexuality show a negative change.9.Compared with those whose attitude changes from negative into positive,subjects who have been always holding positive attitude towards homosexuality show more interest in male homosexuality.10.Subjects whose attitude towards homosexuality changes from negative into positive show more interest and goodwill to male homosexuals than to male heterosexuals.
