Since foreign literary works were selected into the textbooks as teaching materials more than 80 years ago, they have played an important role in molding students' temperament, widening students' horizon, enriching students' minds and so on. With the development of world culture and exchange, they will become more and more important in language teaching in secondary schools. The essence of foreign literary teaching is artistic aesthetic education and developing students' aesthetic ability to be put into students' characters, which is also a task of foreign literature teaching. However, owing to some old education views and the exam-oriented education system, foreign literature teaching has been ignored for a long time.This essay will depict the beauty of foreign literary works in teaching materials and how to implement aesthetic education in foreign literary teaching.The essay contains three parts: introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction clarifies the meaning of this essay and the object of the research at first, and then reviews the present research of foreign literary works in language teaching in secondary schools.The body has three chapters. Chapter One is divided into three sections: Section One depictes the origin and meanings of aesthetic education; Section Two analyses the function of aesthetic education; Section Three clarifies the necessarity of aesthetic education in teaching foreign literary works in secondary schools. Chapter Two is divided into four sections, discussing the aesthetic factors in foreign poetry ,prose,novels and drama; Chapter Three is divided into three sections, studing the teaching method in the perspective of aesthetic, the "moving" teaching method and the teaching method of multi-reading and permeating out of classes. The conclusion summarizes the various beauty in foreign literary works and how to implement the beauty into the teaching, thus providing some reference for the teaching of foreign literary works in secondary schools.
