Research On The Reformation And Development Of Adult Higher Education Within The System Of Lifelong Education

It is becoming more and more necessary to reform and develop the adult higher education in China within the lifelong education system in the new century,and at this stage, the reformation and development of adult higher education in China are facing new opportunities and challenges.Adult higher education is a key part of lifelong education,the degree of maturity and development reflects the level of maturity and development of lifelong education system,if there is no high degree of development of adult higher education,there can be no perfect system of lifelong education.The article 11 from People's Republic of China Education Law promulgated in 1995 stipulates that the country would gradually establish and perfect the system of lifelong education.Deng Xiaoping had pointed out that education in our country should be two legs to walk on.Adult higher education is one of the most important parts of higher education,and the importance has been further clear.The paper clarifies the related theoretical issues,such as the basic concept,the attributes, the scope and the characteristics of adult higher education,it focus on the analysis of the four different kind of stages of adult higher education within the system of lifelong education, which were the embryonic stage before the foundation of PRC,the formed stage from the foundation of PRC to 1976,the developing stage from 1977 to 1986 and the reforming stage from 1987 to present,as well as analysis the characteristics of the various stages.And through analysis we can see difficulties and problems,such as the weak characteristics in adult higher education,the closer to the general pattern of higher education,the uncertainty of its educational purposes and so on at the current stage.We searches for methods and measures by analyzing these existed difficulties and problems of adult higher education within lifelong education system,especially we need to change our ideas and build bridges between all levels higher education.We must establish a well-structured education system,where various types of education are complementary,multi-level school model develops coordinately,and we should use modem distance education network and accept the appropriate foreign advanced concepts to achieve the reformation and the innovation of our own adult higher education through the support and guidance from government.I hope that it could draw the related scholars' attention and discussion through the writing of this paper.
