Objects:Study the effect of Yoga on the brain activity with the help of the EEG(Electro-Encephalograph).Method:12 female subjects volunteerd for the study from yoga class in Beijing Forestory University. They were given practice of yoga including posture,breathing-control,induce to relax and OM meditation once weekly for two months.EEG were recorded prior to study, during induce to relax and OM meditation & after two months. All EEG data were collected with Beijing Kelong Bio-medical Technology Company MEEG-903 Analysis Systems, with 16 channel 12 bit A/D converters.Results:1.During induce to relax the subjects showed increasing alpha2 amplitudes spreading anteriorly.2.During OM meditation the subjects showed increased alpha3 amlpitudes at Occipital and Parieto.3.After 8 sessions of yoga class the subjects showed significant increased alpha3 amplitudes confined posteriorly. And significant increased theta at posteriorly and right inferior temporal.Conclusions:1.Yoga practices including postures,induce- to-relax and OM meditation strengthen the auto-coordinatability of cerebral cortex neurons.2.Induce-to-relax gentlely stimulates the cerebral cortex neuron.Induce to relax after posture practice leads to the inhibitory of the cerebral cortex deeply.3.As a strong stimulus OM meditation converts the cerebral cortex neuron from disorderly to orderly and intergrates the brain activity.
