The Characteristics Of Sports Management In The Application Of Venue Operation To Major Sports Events

Scientific and efficient organizing mode is essential for competition system to operate and develop well.Venue operation mode started at Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 which has been confirmed as the basic mode of Olympic organization by IOC.It is greatly different for competition department to operate under venue mode,from domestic general and individual sports events.This dissertation explains the relationship between venue operation and Sports taking example by National Aquatics Center and other competition venues.It also explains the application of venue operation in China,advantages and problems of Sports in this mode and the reason of problems.In addition,it gives some advice to the application of this mode in China and offers valuable theory and reference to promote the development of sports organization and Olympic Games in future.Conclusions of research are as follow:1 All work carried out in the venue provide total guarantee to Sports in the venue operation mode.The basic mode of "Sports is the center, venue is the basic,local is guarantee" in Beijing Olympic Games,not only conform to international rules but also show the superiority of whole nation system.Compare with other major sports events,sports management under this mode has more standard operation and uniform criterion,strong plans and clear responsibility.2 Matrix structure of venue team enhances internal relationship between function areas,at the same time shows the central position of sports.But the organizational structure still needs to be improved.3 The operation plans show the philosophy of "Sports is the center" Some plans are well operated in the practice,and achieve the purpose of drawing up plan.While some plans are not.But they achieved the purpose to exercise team members in the course of drawing up plans.4 Sports have different characteristics in different venues and operation work,so flexibility of venue general policy needs to be increased according to characteristics of sports;General criterion of work brings instruction effect to Sports.5 The command system used by Sports shows the advantages of double-report in Matrix structure.6 "Place to venue" working mode shows the superiorities and brings great convenience to Sports.But the unity of venue team,departments and venue owner needs to be accomplished.7 Cooperation and communication are to be enhanced between Sports and other function areas.
