Operation of large sports stadiums is a worldwide problem. When a city or a region in the large-scale sports events, it is bound to construct the supporting stadiums. Also, events with larger scale, the stadium facilities is more advanced, construction cycle is longer, and the amount of investment is more. The construction of large stadiums is of positive significance to drive the local economy, especially the development of the sports industry, promote the construction and development of physical infrastructure and public cultural facilities, meet the need of the local mass fitness and entertainment activities. However, due to the slow recovery of the fund, complex of the later management and high maintenance costs, the large sports stadium is almost entirely vacant after the game, and in operating difficulty. The stadium began to bear a heavy financial burden after completing the tournament task, that result in a large property loss and economic losses. Therefore, how to better the development and utilization of the large-scale competition stadium at big events, management predicament of large venues appeared, and how to strive for greater social and economic benefits, is the scholars have been widely concerned currently, as well as the main problems to be studied In this paper.This paper does a thorough research into the efficient management of large stadiums and draw a scientific conclusion, through the method of literature, expert interviews, field survey method, case analysis method and logical analysis method, using economics, management science, such as study of knowledge. And, the public goods theory, SWOT strategy analysis theory, cost-benefit theory and4Cs marketing theory is the theoretical tool.This paper studies the development and management of stadiums, pointing out the problems in construction and management of large sports stadiums in China. At the same time, this paper not only on the theoretical study, but also with the Ji’nan Olympic Sports Center as the samples for further analysis. On the basis of literature research, the paper put extensive and deep investigation on Ji’nan Olympic Sports Center. By expert interviews to the leaderships of Olympic Sports Center to obtain first-hand data, through analysis and study, the paper draws the construction of the further development of the stadiums, such as keeping balance between economic benefit and social benefit, building venues’ diversified business structure, improving the quality of service to attract customers, developing venues’ intangible assets to increase revenue, outsourcing of part operation project to reduce costs, rational disposition of human resources and reduction of redundant. Hope that through this study, the paper can direct a way to the future development of Ji’nan Olympic Sports Center.The current research literature regarding the management of stadiums focused on the management system of Chinese large venues, in favor of the reform of operation mode for industrialization. This study is mainly located in the venue under the current system, for how to take the measures and strategies to improve the operating efficiency of the venues. And, this is the first time to the Ji’nan Olympic Sports Center as the research sample, making the investigation and analysis of the Olympic Sports Center’s operation nearly three years since2009after the National Games, pointing out the existing problems, and putting forward the practical countermeasures of its sustainable development.
