On Bauman's Post-modernity Thoughts

Zygmunt Bauman, well known for unique perspective, profound thought, quite good works, the unique style and superb writing in the theoretical circles, is one of the most prominent theorists concentrating on modernity and post-modernity. In recent years, the Bauman's ideological thinking is concerned both at home and abroad more and more because of its charm and academic value, and scholars at home and abroad study his ideology mainly from the perspective of sociology. The focus of this article, standing on the perspective of aesthetics, analyses the living conditions of human exposition from the post-modernity thoughts of Bauman.The introduction briefly summarizes the life of Bauman, his major works as well as the source of his thoughts.The first chapter discusses how Bauman understands the post-modernity in detail, including the origin of post-modern theories (The emergence of post-modern discourse and the discusses of the western scholars on the post-modern), and Bauman's thoughts of the post-modernity as well as the relationship between post-modernity and the modernity.Chapterâ…¡focuses on the defect of the post-modernity. It is accepted that freedom and security are paradoxes. Freud believes that the modern society receives the security to some extent at the cost of the freedom, while Bowman claims that the post-modernity society makes access to a sense of freedom but no longer the security, it also introduces the post-modernity heroes and victims: Tourism and the Rangers.Chapterâ…¢focuses on the analysis of post-modernity habitat in three areas: The truth and the nature of post-modernity society is the consumer society; the role of intellectuals from post-modernity society transforms from the legislators to interpreters, as well as the post-modernity arts and aesthetic characteristics.The conclusion introduces the western scholars' appreciation and criticism of Bauman and my briefly evaluation of Bauman's ideology.
