Modern Chinese theory of curriculum and teaching was based on the introduction and absorption of western theory of curriculum and teaching.It has been proved that in a country such as China with a long and unique background of politics,economy,culture and education,it would never work to copy western theory of curriculum and teaching.It is imperative to study,inherit and absorb traditional thoughts of curriculum and teaching.The so-called essence of traditional thoughts of curriculum and teaching,which means something reflecting the point and law of curriculum and teaching in the traditional thoughts of curriculum and teaching,not only played a guiding role for curriculum and teaching practice in the history,but also still has impact and value now.The thesis coordinated and abstracted the essence of traditional thoughts of curriculum and teaching from five dimensions:the concepts of teaching purpose,the concepts of curriculum content,the concepts of teaching process,the concepts of principle teaching and the view of teachers and students.Some representative essence of thoughts was summed up:the concepts of teaching purpose was the integrity of ability and moral;the concepts of curriculum content was the integrity of how and why;the concepts of teaching process was the combination of knowing and doing;the concepts of teaching principle was practicality;the view of teachers and students was teaching benefits teachers as well as students.With the principle of combining history and discussion,history and reality,ancient and modern,the author finally found out the revelations to the theory and practice of modern curriculum and teaching after studying the essence,that is,the concepts of teaching purpose should produce people harmonious and full functioning in development;the concepts of curriculum content should be comprehensive and synthesis;the concepts of teaching process should combine the theory and the practice;the concepts of teaching principle should be useful;the view of teachers and students should be democratic and equal,interactive and mutual development.On research approaches,the author used the method of literature study,comparing analysis and theory reflection;On contents and purposes,the study included three parts:firstly,the main contents of the essence were abstracted and coordinated to show the essence as completely as possible;Secondly,conditions and methods of the essence's execution was analyzed to understand the essence as accurately as possible;thirdly,through the deepend research on the essence thoughts,we can draw a few points of inspiration from reflecting and generalizing,in hoping to offer benefits and the direction to the theory and practice of modern curriculum and teaching.
