The 21 st century is an era of cultural consciousness.The nation states in the world have raised culture to the height of national strategy.The nation states are becoming more and more aware of the value of their own cultural tradition,and have always attached great importance to the national cultural tradition.The cultural tradition education has been throughout the national education.Cultural tradition education is based on the cultural spirit inherited from the history,focuses on the present and faces the future.The purpose of cultural tradition education is to promote the formation of cultural consciousness on the basis of cultural identity,internalize the cultural spirit into the cultural literacy of the nationals,and cultivate the nationals with cultural sense.As the main position of implementing cultural tradition education,schools are the important places for people to share cultural memory,form cultural identity and shape national spirits.Rooted in the needs of school education of cultural tradition in our nation,this study takes cultural tradition education of primary and secondary schools in Japan and Singapore as the comparative research object.Carrying out specific investigation around the theme that the two countries cultivate people with cultural tradition through cultural tradition education is aimed to promoting the development of cultural tradition education of primary and secondary schools in China.In addition to the introduction,this paper is divided into five chapters.The first three chapters analyze the school education of cultural tradition in Japan and Singapore from three aspects: historical evolution,curriculum and textbook,teaching.The first part traces back to the historical development of cultural tradition education in bothcountries.After the second world war,the school education of cultural tradition in Japan has experienced four stages: the cultural turn of post-war education,the rebirth of cultural tradition education,the gradual development of cultural tradition education,and the highlight of cultural tradition education.The school education of cultural tradition in Singapore has experienced four stages since the independence: survival driven education,efficiency oriented education,ability oriented education,and value oriented education.The part of curriculum and textbook analyzes the curriculum structure and elementary school textbooks in Japan and Singapore.The penetrating way is adopted in the curriculum setting and textbook compilation.The cultural content design in textbook unifies the knowledge logic and the students' cognitive characteristics,is thorough by the level and step by step.It effectively meets the requirement of curriculum standards of cultural tradition education.The part of teaching practice explores the teaching methods and characteristics of cultural tradition education,supplemented by the specific teaching examples.The schools in both countries take the way of classroom teaching and practical activities.In terms of teaching characteristics,in Japan,the teaching of cultural tradition takes rooted in the cultural characteristics and is throughout the curriculum system.The regional cultural materials are developed.The importance of the experience activities has been attached.Educational resource inside and outside the school are gathered.The curriculum research team of teachers plays an important role.In Singapore,the school teaching of cultural tradition strengthens the national identity,improves the quality of teacher team by providing multiple ways of professional development,builds school culture,and mobilizes the resources of family and society.The fourth and fifth chapters focus on the analyzing the similarities and differences of the school education of cultural tradition in Japan and Singapore,and exploring the path of the school education of cultural tradition in our country.In analysis of the historical development,content and practices of cultural tradition education in Japan and Singapore,it can be find that the cultural tradition education in both countries has embedded in the national education.Some common features can be summarized as follows.The value of cultural tradition are condensed,and the goal of school education of cultural tradition are made clear.The goal of school education of cultural tradition in Japan is to cultivate theJapanese with inheriting and innovating tradition and cultures,loving the country and hometown,and being full of rich humanity.While the school education of cultural tradition in Singapore aims at cultivating Singaporean with identifying with the cultural tradition of mother tongue and national consciousness and common values.The governments of both counties play a leading role in the school education of cultural tradition,design from the top level,and guide the development of cultural tradition education.In the face of multiple cultural value relations of cultural tradition education,both countries emphasize the unity of personal and social values,link the past,present and future to realizing the modern transformation of cultural tradition based on inheritance,and highlight the local culture with facing the cultures of the worlds.In promoting the implementation of the curriculum,attention has been paid to the integration of the cultural tradition and subjects,and the arrangement of course content is unified and hierarchical.The teaching practice of cultural tradition education takes the way of uniting the knowledge with practice,combining explicit with implicit,including school,family and society.However,the school education of cultural tradition in Japan and Singapore has their own historical origin and realistic background,which make the connotation of object and content of the school education of cultural tradition in two countries different,as well as facing their own education problems.Therefore,when we learn from experience of the school education of cultural tradition in Japan and Singapore,we must based on our own national condition and actual needs,so as to explore path of cultural tradition education which is suitable for our country.Firstly,on the basis of clarifying the value of Chinese cultural tradition,we should establish the goal of modern Chinese formed by cultural tradition.Secondly,around the goal,the curriculum content should be designed systematically.Thirdly the teaching practice should be implemented with cultural connotation.Then the cooperation among school,family and society should be strengthened.Finally,the inside connotation of cultural tradition of teachers should be enhanced to strengthen the construction of teacher team of cultural tradition education.
