With the acceleration of economic globalization and the development of engineering science and technology, higher quality and capacity requirements have been placed on talents of engineering. Education of engineering in universities is the main channel of cultivating future engineers. Cultivating a large number of innovative high-quality engineers and engineering technology and management talent, and making more contribution to China's development and world progress in science and technology projects becomes the duty-bound mission of China's higher engineering education. Philosophy of Engineering is a new subject which is booming in recent years. It plays an important guiding role for the engineering practice and the reform of its education. How to integrate and reform the existing educational concepts, models, contents and methods by philosophy, establish the concept of contemporary engineering, build a new engineer training system, explore some new avenues for engineering education reform, and reinforce the Engineering Undergraduate Students'innovation quality and practical ability Cultivation have become the new focus of Modern engineering education.This paper attempts to explore the ways of improving the Engineering Undergraduate Students'innovation quality and practical ability and cultivating new century innovative scientific and technological talents which is the critical problem. First of all, on the basis of the briefly introduction of the research background and significance, and the actuality of domestic and international research, it summarizes the characteristics of modern engineering and several contemporary popular engineering concept, and discusses the rise of Philosophy of Engineering and its importance for the engineer cultivation, and introduces the Large-scale Engineering education view based on the Philosophy of Engineering research; Secondly, on the basis of the analysis of the quo of engineering undergraduate students'innovation quality and practical ability cultivation , some available experiences have been educed by the comparison with the other countries , and bring forwards its background and significance. Thirdly, in the vision of the Philosophy of Engineering, attempts to reconstruct the future engineer's innovative quality and practice ability on the signification of engineering ,and advances some principles which the engineering undergraduate students'(future engineers') innovative quality and practice ability cultivation should follow; Finally, Briefly discusses the basic elements of teaching practice, characteristics, and its emphasis action in engineering undergraduate students'innovative quality and practice ability cultivation. Than it points out the problems in traditional engineering practice teaching, combining the teaching reform practice of Hefei University of Technology, basing Contemporary engineering education concept, attempting to build modern engineering education practice teaching system to cultivate the engineering undergraduate students'innovative quality and practice ability.
