Research On Evaluating System About Chinese Athletes' Orieteering Skills

In China, orienteering is a new sport , its athletics level is comparatively low and the research on orienteering is at an early age. There hasn't been researches about evaluating athletes'orienteering skills systemically among research documents on orienteering skills. Because of its particular rules and ways of competition , coaches can't learn about their athletes'performances directly and they can't know the athletes'orienteering skill levels directly and scientifcally; nor can they evaluate athletes'skill levels correctly. Therefore, evaluating orienteering skills systemically not only helps to find the disadvantages orienteering skills but also offers some practical theory to orienteering teaching and training.The author analyses orienteering skills comprehensively with documents method, inquiring into experts, experts interviw and discussion , statistical methods, and systems analysis. According to the relationship between orienteering techniques and orieteering skills and the features of factor indexes, the indexes of skills are divided into subjective and objective factors about landforms, maps, direction, space structure between maps and landforms and so on. According to the principles of building the system of skills evaluating and the features of orienteering skills, the indexes of factors were resolved into details; questionaires were made and experts picked them out. Then based on the degree of the effects of factor indexes on orienteering, questionaires were made again. The author filtrated the survey with Delphi Technique and reached main factor indexes: three kinds and eight items. According to the relationship between the principal and th subordinate among indexes, a pattern of orienteering evaluating system was made which was made up of three first-degree indexes and eight second-degree indexes; meanwhile, experts ensured the reliability of the pattern. Then with analytical method,the author compared the indexes in two, calculated the importance of the indexes and gained an math equation of a pattern on orienteering evaluating skills.Combining each index in the evaluating pattern with the contents of corresponding skills evaluating , the author made evaluating questionaires. Then athletes with different orienteering skills were tested with the questionaires and then the author calculated the results using the math equation of orienteering skill evaluating and gained their scores. The author analysed the scores about skills and the skill levels of the tested athletets and proved the the evaluating system about orienreeing skills and the math equation of its evaluation are feasible.
