The theory of the Task-based Language Teaching(TBLT) has been an influential language teaching and learning theory in the 1980s.It emphasizes "Learning by Doing".Now the new "English curriculum standards" definitely advocates "Task-based Teaching" and "cultivating students' general abilities of language". Various kinds of tasks enable students to acquire language by performing tasks and master the listening,speaking,reading and writing skills of English.So,it is crucial for English class to adopt Task-based Language Teaching.Writing is a consecutive process to communicate ideas and sensation in search of the best effective language.Writing can promote the acquisition of language knowledge effectively.However,it is not an easy job to learn writing well,for writing is a complicated and dynamic process which is restricted by various cognitions and social factors.In English classroom,English writing is always a weak point.The present study aims to apply task-based teaching to the practice of writing in English class in the junior high school.In light of the task-based teaching theory,the paper first expounds the characteristics of task-based teaching and elaborates the task-based teaching methods in English writing.Then the paper describes integrated task-based teaching principles and provides several samples of how to perform task-based instructions in English writing.Besides,an experimental research of task-based teaching in English writing is conducted in a junior middle school.Through the data analysis of tests and questionnaires of 93 subjects,the paper finally concludes that task-based teaching is effective in English writing.
