The absence of Chinese sociology from the early 1950s to 1970s,within these 30 years western sociology experienced a radical structural change.The grand theory building of Parsons reached its peak in 1950s and was crashed in 1970s.Moreover,during the 1970s,sociology was diagnosed a condition of crisis by sociologists themselves,and this crisis echoed the voice of SAVING SOCIOLOGY in the late 1990s and today's PUBLIC SOCIOLOGY as a new orientation.Due to the historical absence,how Chinese sociology understand this structural change and crisis in sociology.The rise of narrative analysis provides us a practical path.As sociology has experienced a methodological shift from viewing narrative as an unreliable method to regard narrative as a useful method which should be spread,and sociology still has experienced an ontological shift,the knowledge of sociology itself was viewed as narrative knowledge.Form the prospect of narrative knowledge provides us with a good path to understand the crisis in sociology.The original meaning of CRISIS signifies a crucial moment of diagnose.This paper explores the CRISIS NARRATIVE in the history of sociology and points out that the CRISIS NARRATIVE after 1950s is different from the classic period which placed emphasis on narrating the crisis story of societies.After 1950s,sociologists are telling crisis stories about this discipline and engaging on self-diagnose.
