Institutional Research In Higher Vocational Colleges: Definition,Predicament And Outlet

Higher vocational college has four characteristics: advanced,occupational,regional and open. Because of this, it is urgent and necessary to carry out" Institutional Research" in higher vocational colleges. There are four values: It helps to grasp development direction of the higher vocational colleges; It helps to show high school characteristics; It contributes to the scientific management of higher vocational colleges; And it helps maintain the stability of higher vocational colleges and even social.At present, there are a lot of problems in the comprehensive promotion of "Institutional Research" in higher vocational colleges. There are five missing mainly in the knowledge, platform, potence, information and paradigm; Lack of awareness: awareness of the concept is not yet in place; Missing platform: the research institutions is not sound; Lack of potence: there are not enough professional researchers; Lack of information: data is not rich in resources; Lack of paradigm: the program does not regulate, and so on."Institutional Research" in higher vocational colleges needs five supports to out of the predicament. First, thinking support: to set the concept of awareness of "Institutional Research ".Second, agencies support: to establish "institutions" of "Institutional Research". Third, training more professionals who mainly work on "Institutional Research" in higher vocational colleges. Fourth: information support: gathering the data resources of "Institutional Research"; Fifth: technical support: to perfect the paradigm of"Institutional Research"in higher vocational colleges.
