Whether the teaching is effective or not, it depends on what students learn and how they feeling when they learn, not depends on whether teachers finish teaching or they teach carefully. If students learn less and they feeling bad when they study, although teachers teach carefully, the teaching is less effective or no effective. Students acquire knowledges that teachers teach, which is an low level of effective teaching. The high level of effective teaching is students find proper learning styles and they develop themselves in feeling, attitudes and values. Effective teaching is not only the expression of professional standards of teachers, but also the basis of students' development.Through the literature review, the research and practice of effective teaching lasts no more than 20 years in China. According to the development of effective teaching, it goes through the period of translating the foreign countries' research, the period of being extended during the basic education curriculum reformation and the period of forming research system. Today effective teaching research in China is multidisciplinary and multi-perspective in classroom, which are most theoretical study and bases on some theory.This study investigates 177 teachers around how they understand the meaning of effective teaching and what they do to improve teaching efficiency through the questionnaire. It also investigates 213 students around the classroom learning. In order to enrich the information of questionnaire, we also use classroom observation and individual interviews. Integrating all aspects of data, how teachers understand the connotation of effective teaching focus on four aspects in the following. Teachers'understanding of effective teaching focus on four aspects. Firstly, there is difference between concept and reality. Secondly, the understanding of mathematics teachers is different from language teachers. Thirdly, teachers attach importance to factors of theirs in influence on effective teaching. The factors are forming writing lesson plans and their warmth and vitality. The last, teachers always neglect time of student learning in influence on effective teaching. The strategy of deepening teachers'understanding. Teachers look for the convergence point between philosophy and practice, attach importance to teaching reflection and the time of student learning. School administrators should seep the idea of student-centered and create a relax learning atmosphere for teachers.The core idea of effective teaching is "less teaching by teachers, more learning of students, being interested in learning". This study tests teachers' teaching around the standard. Firstly, teachers prepare lessons on the basis of curriculum standards, teaching reference books and examination requirements, lacking individual adaptation. Secondly, through asking a question teachers begin a class; through summarizing the important content, teachers over a class. Thirdly, the questions can't develop students'level of thinking and take students who have academic difficulties and introverted personality. Fourthly, classroom time allocation method expected by teachers is different from the practice. Fifthly, works are fixed by teachers are enough and are for the purpose of consolidating knowledge. Sixthly, time after class allocated of teachers is uneven, most of which are used to correct homework and write lesson plan, not reflect teaching. Seventhly, the principle of evaluating students are basic, but lacking comprehensive. The advice of improving the efficiency of classroom teaching are in the following. From the teachers, they should awake the professional attitude and education belief of themselves. From the school administrators, they should create system of preparing lessons and set up system of reflection teaching. From the officials, they should change the system of evaluating teachers. From the education researchers, they should enter into classroom and start action research with teachers, which can put the practice of effective into a new stage.
