A Study On American Community College And The Enlightenment To Higher Education In China

American community college is not only the biggest part in the higher education of America, but the most characteristic one. Though already having a history of more than one century, American community college is still in a vigorous situation. It has made a contribution to popularization of higher education and economic development in America and has got the extensive approval from the society. In recent years, higher education in our country has developed rapidly and entered the stage of popularization, which has trained a large number of high-quality talents for the development of the national economy and society. However, it is a fast catch-up-with process that higher education in our country changes from the stage of minority to that of popularization. So most of the universities have not prepared well in many ways, such as school level, specialty offered, specification and level of personnel training etc. As a result most of the universities in our country are lack of the characteristic. The phenomenon of convergence and hastening is serious. The offered specialties are divorced from market demand. More and more university students have difficulty in finding a job. It is urgent to take the adjustment measures. American community college could give some enlightenment to the further development of higher education in our country. The thesis, on the basis of investigating the history of American community college, carried on deep research to its current situation from three respects: goal, management system, talent's training mode, then summarized its characteristic and the enlightenment to developing higher education in our country.
